About Kristen

Hi, I’m Kristen.

Welcome to Ritual Pastry—a place where vegan baking meets curiosity, creativity, and a little everyday magic.

I’m a self-taught vegan baker with a love for creating desserts inspired by nature, seasons, and the joy of scratch baking.

I didn’t go to culinary school. Instead, I spent the last 18 years teaching myself vegan baking through books, research, endless recipe testing, and plenty of trial and error.

What started as a personal passion grew into a lifelong curiosity about baking—

the techniques, ingredients, and small details that transform simple ingredients into something memorable.

Over time, I realized I loved sharing what I learned just as much as I loved creating new recipes. Ritual Pastry became a place to share flavorful vegan desserts, encourage creativity in the kitchen, and help other bakers enjoy the process as much as the final result.

FAQ

Yes! Every recipe on Ritual Pastry is completely vegan and tested to ensure great flavor and texture.

Because understanding why a recipe works gives you the confidence to troubleshoot, experiment, and eventually create your own recipes.

Start with the beginner-friendly recipes and baking guides. I always explain techniques and ingredient choices so you understand the process—not just the recipe.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Whenever substitutions work well, I include recommendations in the recipe. Baking is chemistry, so certain ingredients have important jobs.

Usually not. Most recipes use ingredients you can find at a regular grocery store, with substitutions whenever possible.

You’ll find some gluten-free recipes, and I’m continuing to add more. Each recipe is clearly labeled.

Absolutely. Every recipe is tested multiple times before it’s published. If a recipe isn’t reliable, it doesn’t make it onto the blog.

The Baking Coven is my premium Substack community where members receive exclusive recipes, downloadable guides, seasonal baking content, ingredient deep dives, and educational resources to help them become stronger bakers.
